The Xilonor factory is located just one hour from the international maritime port where our UK destined CLT is loaded onto Bulk Carrier vessels for shipping. Up to three sailings per month transport timber materials to the quiet port near Liverpool, where our UK logistics platform coordinates onward haulage to site. This gives Xilonor a uniquely efficient transport network, delivering CLT with less embodied energy which is significantly kinder to the environment.
Shipping means both large and small volumes are logistically and economically viable, with only the occupied space being charged rather than working within the constraints of road transport wagon volumes. This creates substantial savings while the whole transaction, from liaising with the factory to customs clearance and transport, is handled by our UK office on your behalf.
Early engagement for sequencing and logistics is fundamental to maximising the substantial time, resource, and cost benefits that CLT can bring to a project.
Xilonor CLT is processed and machined to the specified dimensions of each project, with all cutting, routering, and drilling features completed at the factory. The material is then packed for transportation and shipped to the UK where each order then travels to site by trailer. Here, it is essential the necessary space is designated to allow for manoeuvring. Discharge, and storage of all CLT elements.
When undertaking a project involving CLT, knowledge and awareness of the various formats as well as material and production limitations is vital to ensure the structure is designed efficiently and avoids incompatibilities. The offsite manufacturing nature of CLT means transport considerations play a fundamental role in the design of the structure, which can make a substantial difference to all aspects of the project.
Xilonor CLT elements must be designed with a maximum length of 12m, and width of 3 metres. A maximum width of 2.5 metres is advised to optimise transportation, handling, and installation.
